Rates of mental illness amongst performing artists and entertainment industry workers are high. Significantly higher than in the general population.

  • Anxiety is 10 times higher.

  • Depression is 5 times higher.

  • Suicide planning is 4-5 times more prevalent, and suicide attempts are more than double.

The arts industry is known to be harsh and unjust. Work is sporadic and disjointed. Difficult relationships, extreme competition, demanding work conditions and a lack of public understanding are common.

“Renée is not only a dynamic speaker, she connects with her audience – large or small – in a way that leaves them feeling understood and better equipped. Her knowledge and experience are invaluable, but more than that, her approach is warm and compassionate. I have attended a course taught by Renée myself, and have encouraged others to do the same. Without exception, everyone was impacted”.
